DYSS Pulwama organises snow cricket tournament, snow run in Pulwama | KNO

Pulwama, Feb 01 (KNO): In order to take youth out of stress whose movement has remained confined to their houses due to Covid-19, district youth services and sports in Pulwama organizes a cricket tournament and snow run in the upper area of Pulwama district. The local youth were seen enthusiastically to take part in the event organised at CB Nath village in Drabgam hamlet of Pulwama district. Faizan Ahmad, a local youth said they are first time witnessing such kind of event being organised in their area in which they have played cricket on snow. Akeel Ahmad, another youth, said that organising such events in Covid-19 when movement is restricted is the best gift for them. Youth while thanking authorities for organising the event hoped that such kind of events will be organised in future too as there is still around 2 feet snow in height in the area and many events can be organised. District Youth services and sports officer Syed Noor ul Haq while talking with the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO) said that the aim of the event is to keep youth away from stress amid the third wave of Covid-19 and winter when most sports activities remain off. “This is the first such kind of event and we are trying to see how much youth will get involved in it and on the very first day we have witnessed a good number of youth participating in it,” he said. He further added that eight cricket teams from nearby areas participate in it while dozens of youth participated in snow run as running in two feet of snow is itself a challenge. He said that a volleyball tournament will be organised also in the area besides that the department is planning to organize more events in the area so as to keep youth stress free—(KNO)
